The impact of culture, power and class on second pillar pension and capital payments

My research project focuses on the impact of culture, power and class on old age second pillar pensions and capital payments (BVG/LPP) and represents a research approach in this field which has been little investigated in Switzerland. This study highlights the determinants of the retirement pattern in the second pillar system through a cultural context. The research is situated in modernity, meaning that we live in a developed ‘late’ modernity where pre-modern (traditional) and modern culture are situated (Giddens, 1998).
