Description

This module addresses the role of data sharing in the rapidly evolving open science environment. Data sharing fosters scientific impact and credibility and is generally expected by funders, journals, and the researchers’ own institutions. The module will cover: the benefits of and challenges to data sharing; how to plan for data sharing at the start of a project; deciding what data and documentation to preserve and make available; how to prepare social science data and documentation for sharing in a FAIR manner; and how to select and use available and appropriate repositories for sharing. The workshop will be interactive with hands-on exercises, and will allow for deeper examination of tough questions regarding open data and the challenges of sharing in a competitive research world
